41 year old Sylvia Aroche died from CRE bacteria contracted from an Olympus deuodenoscope at UCLA's Ronald Reagan Medical Center. Her husband has sued Olympus Corporation for wrongful death. It is one of the latest in a string of multiple lawsuits against Olympus.
72 year old Leo Palomino who was exposed to the CRE superbug from a duodenoscope that was not properly cleaned at UCLA Medical Center. He survived but is suing Olympus for negligence and fraud. He is represented by Los Angeles attorney Pete Kaufman.
• Domingo Gomez is suing Olympus America and according to his lawsuit is dealing with “extraordinary pain and suffering” as a result of contracting the CRE Superbug. He was also treated at UCLA Medical Center. His lawsuit is claiming product liability, negligence and fraud.
Antonia Torres Cerda, a 48 year old woman from the Central Valley, died as the result of a CRE Superbug infection. Her family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit. The lawsuit said she suffered a significant injury and died as the result of contracting a superbug infection from a dirty Olympus duodenoscope.
An 18 year old student Aaron Young who contracted the CRE Superbug and remains hospitalized at UCLA. He is suing Olympus for negligence. There are multiple lawsuits against Olympus as their scopes were used in all the UCLA procedures.
Righard Bigler, a 57 year old man, died at Virginia Mason Medical Center after contracting an E. coli superbug infection. His wife is suing the hospital as well as Olympus America for wrongful death. It was alleged that the hospital chose not to tell the family the death was caused by a tainted Olympus duodenoscope.
